World Refrigeration Day – 3 Peaks Refrigeration Challenge

Happy World Refrigeration Day, everyone!

Today, on June 26th, we celebrate the important role that refrigeration technology plays in our lives. To mark this occasion, we want to give a huge shout-out to our team members Alan Saban, Yousaf Mohammed, Caitlin Earle, Sam Cameron from WAVE with support from Andy Cambridge (after a late dropout) from MT Cold Storage Solutions who took on the mighty Yorkshire 3 Peak challenge while also putting their refrigeration skills to the test.

For those who don’t know, the Yorkshire 3 Peaks Challenge is a gruelling 24-mile walk through the Yorkshire Dales, including summiting Pen-y-Ghent, Whernside and Ingleborough all within 12 hours. This was all to raise funds for Happydays UK charity, which provides support to the homeless through community housing and social enterprise. We invite you to support our cause and donate on our fundraising page. Your contribution will make a huge difference to the children we are helping, and we are grateful for any amount you can give.

But our team members decided to up the ante even further by adding in their own refrigeration challenge! The WAVE team members manufactured their own insulated boxes using materials they found in the kitchen and packed them with 500g of ice. They then took their boxes with them on the challenge, and the winner was decided at the end of the day based on who managed to keep the most ice.

We are thrilled to announce that Alan Saban took home the prize, with a whopping 320g of ice left by the end of the challenge. Sam Cameron came in a close second with 280g, followed by Yousaf Mohammed with 194g and Caitlin Earle unfortunately had no ice remaining but we applaud her effort nonetheless!

We want to take a moment to honour the incredible achievements of our team, not just in completing the Yorkshire 3 Peaks Challenge but also in putting their refrigeration skills to use in innovative and fun ways. Every member of this team demonstrated amazing skill, dedication, and teamwork, and we are very proud to have them as part of our team.

So here’s to World Refrigeration Day, and to all those who are working hard to make sure that we can keep our food fresh and our homes and businesses comfortable all year round. Thank you, and congratulations to Alan, Sam, Yousaf, Caitlin and Andy!
