IMechE – Engineering an efficient and sustainable cold chain seminar – 2nd March 2021

The cold chain is responsible for approximately 2.5% of global greenhouse gas output.  Given the UK’s pledge to achieve net-zero carbon emissions by 2050, the engineering community need to consider more efficient and sustainable ways of delivering cooling. The face of the cold chain industry is also undergoing considerable change. The impact of COVID-19 on food shopping and storage habits, preparations for global-scale vaccine distribution, and the UK’s departure from the EU all pose significant challenges.

This seminar will focus on improvements to the entire value chain – from production to storage, transport, and eventually retail. James Bailey will be presenting at the seminar and his presentation will focus on choosing the right refrigerant by application.
